Johnson & Wales Providence : September Start

Starting classes at Johnson & Wales University in September? On this site you can find the activities and requirements that are needed in order to start school. Pay close attention to the deadlines applicable to you - New Day School, Returning Day School, Continuing Education/Graduate or New International Students.

New Day School Students
Your requirements deadline is July 11. If you meet this deadline, when you arrive on campus in September, you may proceed directly to your residence hall or, if commuting, you can begin your classes without delay. Students will not be able to begin classes until all requirements are met.

Please take care of your requirements with student services throughout the summer.

Review the university's summer office hours.
Students will be notified in early August whether or not they have completed all requirements.

Please note: All new International day school students must attend mandatory International Student Orientation when they arrive on campus (see International Student section below).

Returning Day School Students
Your deadline for completing all requirements is August 8. If you miss this deadline, your fall schedule will be permanently deleted.

Log onto uconnect after August 11 to determine if any holds have been placed on your account.
These holds must be cleared before September in order for you to start school without delay.

Continuing Education (CE) & Graduate Students
Your deadline for completing all requirements is August 8. If you miss this deadline, holds will be placed on your account.

All New International Students
Upon your arrival in Providence, R.I. please visit the International Center located on the Downcity Campus where you will receive additional details. Please make note of the following dates:

Tuesday, Sept. 2, 10am
ESL Placement testing for new international off-campus students

Wednesday, Sept. 3, 10am
ESL Placement testing for new international residence hall students

Wednesday, Sept. 3, 1pm
Institutional TOEFL
Only for those students who obtain a qualifying ESL Placement test score
($25 fee, photo identification is required)

Friday, Sept. 5, noon-3pm
Mandatory International Student Orientation
Plantations Building, Pepsi Forum (Downcity Campus)
