| VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
You as a parent, remain the most important and influential person in
your student’s life…and for this reason we encourage you to
stay involved with your son or daughter’s educational experience.
Parents who get involved in their students college experience not only
support their student’s success while at J&W, but also share
in this extraordinary time in their child’s life. Through their
involvement, the University benefits from their enthusiasm, valuable input,
and their support of J&W’s students and families.
What parent volunteers do:
Summer Orientation Program
Parents participate in this new student orientation program by
answering parents’ questions, sharing their experiences, offering
advice during the question/answer sessions. Opening Weekend
On both the Harborside Campus and the Downcity campus, parents host the
Parents’ Welcome tents, handing out helpful information, answering
questions, assisting families new to J&W.
Serve on the Advisory Board
Open Houses
Parents participate in the seven open houses held each year for prospective
students and their families answering questions and sharing their experiences.
Family Weekend
While welcoming parents and students to the events, parents share information
about the Parents' Association and encourage parents to get involved
in the association. On Sunday, members attend the annual Parents' Association
meeting held following the President’s
Breakfast.
Welcome letters and Send-off parties
Parents send welcome letters to incoming students and their families over
the summer and many host send off parties for students living in their
community who are attending the University in the fall.
