How to Join an IFC Fraternity
IFC Fraternities host various events throughout the year to educate interested students about fraternity life and provide an opportunity to meet the brothers. In addition, during the Winter Trimester the Interfraterntiy Council hosts a number of events for interested students, primarily freshmen, and coordinates a structured recruitment process to allow men to meet all the fraternities and then attend individual events with groups they are interested in.
How to Join a Panhellenic Sorority
Panhellenic chapters hosts events as well during the year to provide opportunities to meet the women and learn more about sorority life. Each December, the Panhellenic Council hosts an event known as Formal Recruitment which is a weekend of events where interested women go through a process to learn about the sororities and then select the group they are most interested while the sororities are selecting the women they are most interested in as well.
Formal Sorority Recruitment will take place December 11 - 14, 2008
How to Join an NPHC or UCC Member Organization NPHC and
UCC fraternities and sororities hold their own intake events throughout the
year. These events are conducted completely by the individual group and are
typically attended once by potential members. Look for flyers on the various
informational sessions or feel free to call the Greek Life Office at 401-598-1120 to get
more information on any particular group.
*Member Organizations The following fraternities and sororities are fully recognized organizations at J&W. These organizations are supported by the university and follow guidelines and regulations established by the university. If you do not see the name of a particular organization listed below, they are not recognized and you should not consider membership in that organization. Students can face disciplinary action for joining an unrecognized organization. Find out all the information about any group you are interested in before you make a decision.
