timing/eligibility Contact Career Development at least two terms prior to your co-op term to apply, and discuss your plan for securing a site including your anticipated goals for the experience. To participate, your GPA needs to be at least a 2.75 (domestic program), 3.25 (abroad program), and 3.50 (graduate program). applying for co-op Submit a hard copy of the application (Word 152K), your performance transcript and your resume to your coordinator in the Career Development Office by the deadline to ensure your participation in the program. Give yourself plenty of time to meet the deadline as some programs need faculty advisor approval and ensure that you check your degree progress for eligibility. securing and gaining approval on your co-op site There are a couple ways to secure a host site for your experience. Once accepted into the program, you will work with your Coordinator to determine which method is appropriate and how to work towards Best Fit Employment. Once approved, the host company should submit a letter of commitment (PDF 65K) including a bulleted job description to CDO at least two months prior to your start date, to ensure your placement. Culinary students should visit CDO to view a current site list. final preparations Before you leave for your co-op, your coordinator will meet with you to review and ensure that all requirements are met. You must also be financially cleared by Student Financial Services. Your coordinator will also review the required assignments and grading procedures, and give you tips for making your co-op a successful, rewarding experience. during your co-op There are a number of co-op assignments to complete during the course of your work experience. These assignments are used to provide reflection on your experience and are the basis for your academic credit. All assignments are graded and count toward your final grade for your experience and will be reflected on your academic transcript. |
