how do i logon to the computers? The username
and password for the computers are the same as your J&W email
account. Example: If your email address is abc123@jwu.edu, then
your username is abc123 and your password is your email password.
i never set up my email account or i forgot my password.
can you help? Yes, we can reset your password and give
you your username. You must present a J&W school ID in person
to a Senior Lab tech at any one of the computer labs on campus to
get your account information. The Help Desk no longer resets email/network
account passwords.
when i print something in the lab, where do i pick up my
print out? Printouts can be picked up at the front desk.
Look for your initials on the cover sheet.
i waited a long time and still don't see my print out.
where is it?
• If a lot of students are printing at once, it can create
a backlog. Please be patient.
• If someone logged the computer on for you or if the person
who previously used that computer didn't log off, your printout
will come out under their initials.
• Sometimes we move the printouts from the front desk to the
side table. Be sure to check there as well.
• If your printout is not there, please ask at the front desk.
We can look in the queue to see when it will print.
i printed a large number of pages but only received a few.
where are the rest? If you print an excessive amount of
pages, we will cancel your print job. This reduces queue time and
eliminates excessive printing. If you need the rest of the pages,
please print them in increments of 10 pages at a time.
i printed out a PowerPoint presentation but it did not
print or only printed out a couple of slides If you print
out full slides from PowerPoint, we will cancel your print job as
this causes a backup with the printers. PowerPoint slides must be
printed in handout form.
i need to save my work but i don't have a disk
You can save your work to My Documents and you can e-mail the file
to yourself as an attachment. Or we can sell you a floppy disk at
the front desk for $1. We recommend you purchase a USB flash drive.
They are reasonably priced, are more reliable, and hold a lot more
than a floppy disk.
i left something in the computer lab last night. have you
seen it? Ask someone at the front desk to check the Lost
and Found. Be sure to describe the item in detail.
how to print something in color? Ask someone at
the front desk for a color print. We sell coupons for 4 prints for
$1. You can use the coupons one at a time if you wish, but we sell
them four to a sheet.
computer seems frozen or broken Please notify
someone at the front desk so we may assist you in correcting the
problem.
my floppy disk does not work Bring your disk to
the front desk and we can attempt to repair it, but we can't guarantee
anything. Flash drives are more reliable in the long run.
i opened a pdf document in the public folder, but it won't
let me print it out
1. Locate the file in the public folder.
2. Right click on the file name and select "Save Target As".
3. Select the desktop and then click "Save".
4. Minimize to the desktop and then double click on the file name.

how do i get to uconnect from the lab computers?
First, logon to the computer and open Internet Explorer. Then type
uconnect.jwu.edu into the address bar.
i saved my work to a floppy disk but it doesn't show up
on the disk Make sure you wait for the floppy drive light
to shut off before you remove the disk. Double-check that you didn't
save it under My Documents by mistake.
i don't have a j&w email account and i don't have have
a school ID. can you log me on to a computer? No. We are
prohibited from logging other people on to the computers.
i have a j&w email account but the computer will not
accept my username and password
1. First, attempt to try retyping your username and password.
2. Second, make sure "Num Lock" is on and "Caps Lock" is off.
3. Third, make sure the domain chosen is jwu.
4. Finally, if it still does not work, you will need to present
a school ID to a Senior Lab tech at one of the computer labs on
campus to get your password reset.
