Tune in Downcity: University to Host
11th Annual "Summer Pops in the City"

PROVIDENCE, R.I. — July 12, 2007 — The sounds of traffic will be dimmed by the melodious performance of the Rhode Island Philharmonic Orchestra when Johnson & Wales University hosts the 11th Annual Summer Pops in the City on Friday, July 27 right in the heart of Downcity on its meticulously manicured Gaebe Commons. Anne Runolfsson, who recently starred on Broadway as Carlotta Giudacelli in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s "Phantom of the Opera" is the guest soloist.

Proceeds from this elegant outdoor concert benefit the University’s Morris J.W. Gaebe Scholarship Fund which helps selected students in-need to finance their education with J&W, America's Career University®.

Individual Tickets cost $150 and there are special packages for tables of 10 with a Conductor's Circle table at $2,500 which includes table side food service, or a String Society table for $1,250. To purchase tickets or for more information, contact Johnson & Wales at 401-598-5000 or e-mail.

A grand reception featuring the culinary talents of the university's faculty and students begins at 6 p.m., followed by the outdoor concert at 7 p.m. The event is sponsored by TACO, Inc., the John and Happy White Foundation, Mrs. Happy White, and Mr. John White, Jr.

Gaebe Commons is located on the University’s Downcity Campus on Weybosset Street. The rain date for the event is Saturday, July 28.
