Charlotte Campus Bread Expert Nominated for CHARLOTTE, N.C. – April 2, 2008 – Peter Reinhart's Whole Grain Breads: New Techniques, Extraordinary Flavor, written by faculty member, Chef Peter Reinhart, has been nominated for the food industry's two most prestigious book awards. The International Association of Culinary Professionals (IACP) and the James Beard Foundation have recognized the book as one of three finalists in the baking, pastry and desserts category. The winner of the IACP Awards will be announced on Friday, April 18. The James Beard Awards will be announced on Sunday, June 8. Another book by Chef Reinhart, The Bread Baker's Apprentice, which won both the IACP and James Beard Book of the Year awards in 2002, has been recognized by The International Gourmand Foundation as one of three finalists for "Best Bread Book of the Past Twelve Years," (that is, since the inception of the Gourmand Awards). The winners of this "Best of the Best Award" will be announced in Stockholm, Sweden on May 9. Reinhart has taught at JWU since 1999, first with the Providence Campus and now at the Charlotte Campus where his title is Chef-on-Assignment.
