Tony Barreiro Named New Director of the
Community Leadership Institute at Denver Campus

DENVER — October 1, 2007 — Tony Barreiro appointed director of the Community Leadership Institute. Barreiro began his career in leadership development as an instructor, and later as a senior faculty member with the National Outdoor Leadership School. In 1996, Tony gained experience in the nonprofit and education sectors as a teacher, program director and school administrator in Sante Fe, New Mexico. He also worked as a facilitator with the Institute for Intercultural Community Leadership at Santa Fe Community College (later to become the Leadership Institute). As a trainer and facilitator, Barreiro worked with a wide variety of community and leadership development programs including the American Leadership Forum, AmeriCorps, and Leadership New Mexico.

The Community Leadership Institute at Johnson & Wales was created to provide students with the opportunity to develop leadership skills, knowledge, and a sense of commitment to the community through unique, co-curricular programs. The Institute facilitates these experiences to aid all students in obtaining meaningful careers and becoming successful community leaders.
