Loreen Chant Named President of University’s North Miami Campus
Donald McGregor assumes role as president emeritus

NORTH MIAMI, Fla. – May 19, 2008 – Loreen Chant has been named president of Johnson & Wales University's North Miami Campus (JWU), effective today. The announcement was made today by John J. Bowen, university president.

Chant, a Johnson & Wales graduate and vice president since 2000, succeeds founding North Miami Campus president, Donald G. McGregor, J.D. McGregor steps down after almost 40 years of service and will remain active with the university as president emeritus.

The North Miami Campus, which was opened in 1992 with 82 culinary arts students, has grown to nearly 2,000 students pursuing degrees through its College of Business, College of Culinary Arts and The Hospitality College. The campus has graduated more than 4,400 students since opening in 1992. Nearly 6,000 graduates from all JWU campuses currently live in Florida.

Chant’s deep roots in the university as a graduate and long-time staff member were key factors in the decision to name her president. She has been with the JWU North Miami Campus since its inception in 1992 and has held a variety of positions, including registrar, special assistant to the president and executive administrator.

She received her bachelor’s degree in hospitality management from JWU’s Providence Campus and earned a master’s of business administration from Nova Southeastern University.

Chant recently led a three-year effort to develop a formal master plan for the 30-acre campus. She is currently a member of the university’s Strategic Enrollment Team, which has enhanced its admissions selectivity and established pricing and financial aid models to make the university as affordable as possible for its students and families.

Chant, 40, and her husband, John, reside in Pompano Beach with their two children, Justin and Julia.
