Executive Chef John Folse to Share Culinary Expertise and Leadership Experience to Denver Students and Community

DENVER — January 30, 2007 — Johnson & Wales University's Community Leadership Institute and the College of Culinary Art' welcome Chef John Folse, owner of Chef John Folse & Company, Lafitte’s Landing Restaurant, Lafitte's Landing East and White Oak Plantation, as a Distinguished Visiting Chef. He will demonstrate his famous pork chicken andouille jambalaya and Louisiana seafood gumbo and be available to sign some of his Southern style cookbooks.

His visit will be on Thursday, February 8, 2007 from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. in the Jared Polis Auditorium in the College of Business  which is located at 19th and Olive Street.

Chef John Folse cultivated his love for Cajun cuisine with unique Louisiana ingredients while growing up in St. James Parish. With this passion, Folse started Chef John Folse & Company and Lafitte’s Landing Restaurant in Donaldsville, La. in 1978. With the intent to market his restaurant by taking “a taste of Louisiana” worldwide, Chef Folse took Louisiana’s indigenous cuisine to Japan in 1988. Folse now has restaurants in locations including Beijing, Hong Kong, Paris, Moscow, London, Bogotá, Taipei and Seoul. In 1988 Folse was named “Louisiana’s Marketing Ambassador to the World” by the Louisiana Sales and Marketing Executives and “Louisiana’s Culinary Ambassador to the World” by the Louisiana Legislator.
