Going to our partnership school (a local
high school) in our freshman year was a blast!! By teaching portions of
the class you begin to see yourself not as a student, but as a future
mentor, role model and teacher. > Hazel Guerrero, Consumer & Family

A candidate in the Business/Marketing or Consumer and Family Studies
Education Program is involved with teaching in the high schools starting
in his/her first year of college. The candidate will gain more than 205
hours of experience teaching before starting his/her final practicum experience
in the senior year. During the student teaching experience prior to graduation,
the candidate will work with an expert coordinating teacher, one employed
in a high school, gradually assuming all of his/her teaching responsibilities
over an 18-week period while gaining an additional 595 hours of teaching
experience; all before accepting a full-time teaching position!
I
know that when my students ask about the industry I will be able to answer
their questions with real life examples because I'm required to gain more
than 4000 hours of work experience in my field before graduating. >
