dacum An acronym for Developing a Curriculum, "DACUM" is an innovative approach to career analysis. DACUM has proven to be an effective, low-cost method of quickly determining the competencies or tasks that must be performed by the employee in a given job or occupation. This information is used specifically for curriculum development and assessment. Participants in DACUM find the activity to be a professionally stimulating and rewarding experience.

introduction to career management All first year students take Career Management (ICM). This 1.5 credit course is taught by career coaches. Students:
• are introduced to DACUM charts as tools for goal-setting.
• discuss employer selection and recruitment methods to emphasize the role of competencies in hiring, training and evaluating career progression.
• learn how to write a resume, cover letter and reference sheet.
• learn interviewing and job-search skills.
• are introduced to trends in the workplace, to prepare hands-on learning experiences.
• learn to use career management and job-search system, erecruiting.com. It is accessible to students (university-wide), alumni and employers 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
