Johnson & Wales University was founded in 1914 as a business school. Our students enter the business world with knowledge of modern consumer behavior and the new technology needed to compete in a constantly changing world. The
University "closes the gap" between the knowledge instilled
by traditional business colleges and the high skill levels businesses
need from a productive workforce. If we spend the time and money to fully
train our students, future employers save that time and money. It's just

What does "close the gap" mean? Simply put, JWU listens to business. Traditionally, industry must enter a new graduate into a training program and back fill the difference between the skills that the graduate comes to the job with and what traditional liberal arts colleges have prepared them for. JWU closes this gap by listening to industry's needs and providing the necessary hands-on learning students need to begin their careers prepared to meet the expectations of industry.
