Fun Fridays Afterschool Program
Volunteers needed to teach kids to make health snacks! You will make fruit and yogurt parfaits, fresh salsa, fruit smoothies, or create your own menu.

American Cancer Society Fundraising Dinner
Chefs needed to prepare simple dinner and breakfast for 150-200 cancer survivors and caretakers.

Mount Hope Community Baptist Church
Volunteers needed to help prepare and set up for a Fellowship breakfast on the first and third Sundays of every month, starting March 4th. The church feeds more than 100 people.

Providence Ronald McDonald House
Volunteers needed for light cleaning, cooking, baking, office work, general household and maintenance tasks, yard and garden tasks, or interacting with and assisting families.
Where: Providence Ronald McDonald House, 45 Gay Street, Providence RI.
When: Shifts are four hours, seven days per week: 9am–1pm, 1–5pm, and 5-9pm.

The Blessing Way
A non-denominational, faith-based, social service organization in Providence needs your help with “Operation Get Started” - our jobs assistance program. Help unemployed homeless or formerly incarcerated persons who seek work to make a positive change in their lives. Volunteer to work with one person for 4 months as a mentor and coach or serve as a tutor for adults in our job readiness classes. Training and supervision are included in both volunteer positions.

Homeless Shelter Renovations
Providence Rescue Mission needs your help to expand their shelter by 52 beds. Tasks include carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, general laborers, cleaning, and demolition.

Be a Mentor with the Providence Transition Academy!
Located on JWU’s Harborside Campus, the Providence Transition Academy is looking for volunteer mentors for eight 5th year high school students from the Providence Schools. Mentors are needed for Winter and Spring terms; Tuesday, Wednesday OR Thursdays, during any class block – plus Fridays for one and a half hours. JWU mentors will provide the Transition students with an opportunity to learn more about college life, student experiences, and gain access to “real” classes! This is a great opportunity for a student who would like to learn more about education, psychology, or just wants to spend time helping a student learn about college! Students who mentor and have not received their CSL graduate requirement may be eligible to receive credit through this opportunity.

English Speakers of Other Languages
Tutors needed to observe and help facilitate a class of adult English learners. Applicants should be proficient in Spanish. Volunteers should be enthusiastic for team-work, community-building and social change. Experience in the fields of education, organizing, or community work is not required, but a plus.

Free Theater Tickets
In exchange for your help as a volunteer usher at Trinity Repertory Company. Trinity Repertory is just around the corner from the downtown campus and is looking for volunteer ushers. Those who are able to assist with 12 shows will receive 2 complimentary tickets to each show.

Consider Becoming a Big Brother!
• A Big Brother is a mentor, role model and a friend.
• Big Brothers see their Little Brothers regularly and consistently, once a week.
• Big and Little Brothers watch movies, play basketball, eat pizza, visit museums, go hiking, build model airplanes, play catch, work on cars, complete homework or school projects or sit and talk.
• Little Brothers are between 7 and 14 when matched with a Big Brother.
• Big Brothers are 15 or older. They can be single, married, widowed or divorced, a student, professional, laborer, or retiree.

Sunrise House Companion
Sunrise House is an adult assisted living facility for people living with HIV/AIDS. The facility houses 10 adults who share living space in two houses located near downtown Providence. Volunteers to Sunrise House provide residents with companionship and may also take them on social outings. Residents also enjoy playing cards and board games, trips to the mall or for ice cream and anything else that is mutually decided upon. Volunteers should be outgoing, friendly, non-judgmental and able to work comfortably in a confidential environment. A brief interview is required before becoming a volunteer. Volunteers that are able to commit to a regular schedule are preferred so that our clients have the opportunity to build a repertoire with volunteers.

Trailblazing
Neutaconkanut Hill Association and the City of Providence are seeking volunteers to help blaze and maintain trails in Uplands at Neutaconkanut Hill Park. Volunteers should bring a water bottle and should dress in long pants. Volunteers may come into contact with poison ivy.

Computer Lab Monitor
The International Institute of Rhode Island is looking for a volunteer to spend two hours a day as IT support at their computer lab. Students who volunteer are able to do school work when the lab is not busy.

Recycling for Rhode Island Education
A nonprofit education and environmental organization which collects clean, non-toxic industrial by-products for use as educational resources. They really need volunteers!
Tasks Include: Assisting with warehouse management, serving and advising customers, arranging resource packets for distribution, preparing materials for teacher workshops, front desk duties and checking in members.

The Community Opportunity Zone at the Lima School
The COZ provides services to parents through their Family Resource Center along with after-school programs and early childhood services. They need volunteers to work in pairs tutoring parents to acquire basic computer skills. Skills should focus on eventual work competencies such as using the internet to find a job or writing a resume. Any students that can speak Spanish would be a plus!
