Denver Campus Student Profile Which do you prefer, MySpace or Facebook? I prefer Facebook because MySpace is not what it used to be. Facebook is more for college students even though high school students can sign up. MySpace gets boring when every comment is a virus. Goal you’d like to achieve this year: A goal that I would like to achieve this year is to continue to be on the Dean’s list, complete as many Collegiate Ambassador Team hours as I can, and make a positive impression on this campus my freshman year. How do you feel about dorm living? At first I was afraid to live in the Residence Halls but after getting used to it, it’s actually a great experience that everyone should have the opportunity to do. You meet new people everyday and get to understand the different cultures of your “dorm mates” Favorite professor and why: My favorite professor would have to be Jude Ferreira. He was one of the first hospitality professors that I came in contact with and when he teaches, he is challenging but at the same he cares for his students and is there to help them if they do not understand the information. Favorite campus event: My favorite campus event would have to be Wildcat Weekend. Wildcat Weekend is a visitors program that is organized by the office of University Events. This program is held about 4 to 5 weekends a year and prospective students can either fly or drive down for a sample class as well as a tour of the facilities. This happens to be my favorite because I attended one before enrolling at Johnson & Wales and now I am helping organize and working backstage during these events. Favorite music: I am not too picky. I just have to understand the words. Best food on campus: The best food on campus would have to be the food coming out of the kitchens in the university center where the culinary classes take place. Sometimes the dining rooms are open to students that would like to try different foods from the different courses. I must say that the pastries are my favorite part. Why JWU? I have chosen Johnson & Wales University because I like the student/professor ratio. The average class size is approximately 35 to 1. I feel that I am more comfortable knowing that the professor knows my name and I am not just a number. Here at Johnson & Wales, it is like a second family. You meet individuals that might be your business partner or even someone that might be your main contact for a business plan. Faculty, staff and administration care for the students and with the open door policy that is in place, you can really tell they care.
